Our gardening club is run by Mr Blyth on Mondays afterschool between 3:00 and 4:15pm.
Spaces are currently available for any children in Years 2 to 6.
We meet whatever the weather as there is always something to do in the garden.
This year we have grown and harvested potatoes, strawberries, raspberries, rhubarb, tomatoes, runner beans, and carrots. We have planted leeks, parsnips, radishes and beetroot which we hope to harvest over the winter period.
We have supplied the cooking club with apples, rhubarb, raspberries and potatoes this year as well as eggs from our hens.
We have also planted trees from the Woodland Trust around the edge of the allotment. These include hazel, hawthorn, dog rose and holly.
We have also spent time starting to tidy up the woodland area at the top of the field.
As well as all this the children decided that they wanted a pumpkin patch this year. We planted pumpkin seeds just before the summer holidays and now (October) we have 3 that are the size of footballs and several others that are growing well.
We still have lots to do so if you enjoy gardening or would like to learn more please see Mr Blyth for a letter.
