This half term we are studying the project, A Child's War. We are exploring all aspects of World War Two and the effects this event had upon children.
We were delighted to welcome in Carl from Portals to the Past. Dressing up as people from the 1940s was great fun. We got involved in workshops learning all about the axis forces and battles throughout the war. We looked at genuine artefacts from the era and worked as teams to solve a quiz. Foot Drill was good fun together. We also made poppies for a Remembrance Day mural in school. The 'bomb disposal' game was really fun and tested how steady our hands are!
Take a look at our photographs to see what fun we had!
This half-term we have enjoyed planning and building an Anderson Shelter during Design Technology lessons. We started by looking at images of Anderson shelters to determine what they were made from and how they were constructed. We then used a range of materials to construct a structurally sound miniature version. We will test their loading capacity using earth from outside and determine what what made the most effective structure!
Our new Science topic for this half term is 'Electricity'.
We have been learning about how objects become charged and enjoyed investigating into how to create static electricity.
Here are some photos from our investigation!
We have enjoyed learning about electrical circuits and how to represent components with symbols.
