Our 'Quest' Curriculum
We aim to provide all pupils with a broad and balanced curriculum that focuses on key skills. Our question based curriculum follows a two year cycle which has a whole school theme each term. Our curriculum incorporates engaging, stimulating links across all subjects to ensure learning is meaningful and purposeful. We ensure that our curriculum is underpinned by essential Maths, English, Oracy and IT skills to fully equip pupils for the next stage in their learning.
Each teaching team has a number of dedicated and skilled teachers and teaching assistants. This allows more opportunities to provided targeted support so that all children reach their full potential. Teaching teams work closely together to overcome any potential barriers to learning so that children can fully access the curriculum and all children make progress.
We take great pride in sharing children’s achievements with parents and families. Throughout the year we have various events where parents are invited into school to share their child’s learning. Enrichment activities such as trips, visits and visitors take place regularly to provide children with ‘real life’ experiences and make learning fun.
Each term we have a 'Language of the Term,' which provides all children with the opportunity to experience 9 different languages over six years. We have a real commitment to making sure that our choices of languages reflect the home languages of children in the school, valuing other cultures and including all pupils. Children who are native speakers can become the experts within the classroom, promoting confidence and independence. This enhances positive relationships with peers, staff and the community, enabling children to settle quickly and happily with a 'ready to learn' attitude.
The curriculum is reviewed and updated every 2 years in order to meet the needs of our pupils and the changing diversity of our school.
