Year 5 visit London!
On Thursday 17th March 2022 Year 5 had an amazing trip to London! After an early start, we left school at 08.00 and travelled down the motorway to London by coach. Thankfully the traffic was good and we arrived at The British Museum bang on time!
We ate lunch, stored our coats and bags in special lockers and then set off to look at the magnificent exhibits. This included the ancient Egyptians section which had real mummies (one was exposed!) and we saw ancient Greek statues as well as the Rosetta stone. We went to the British Museum shop and everyone got to look round and buy things such as fridge magnets, pens and books. Later that day we saw the Anglo Saxon helmet which was discovered during World War 2.
After the British Museum we went to visit Buckingham Palace where we saw the guardsmen guarding the Queen. We then walked alongside St James' Park to the Houses of Parliament and saw Big Ben and Westminster Abbey.
Finally we walked towards the River Thames, saw the London Eye and then got on the coach to come home. We arrived back at school at 8.15 pm. Everyone was extremely tired however we all had a brilliant day!
