Year 3/4
Welcome to year 3 and 4.
We are three classes named after Vicky McClure, Lennie James and the Kanneh-Mason family.
Vicky is an actor who is famous for many TV roles and launching and running Our Dementia Choir, helping those in our community who suffer from the cruel disease. She went to Fernwood School and worked with Samantha Morton at the Central Junior Television Workshop. She has been acting professionally since she was 15. She has an MBE, a honorary Doctorate from the University of Nottingham and a tram named after her in Nottingham.
Lennie James is an actor who was born in Nottingham to African-Trinidadian parents but moved to London as a young child. When his mum died he was in foster care for eight years but still continued to chase his dreams of being an actor. When he was in drama school he stood up for what he believed in, risking his place to support another student. He has been in many films and TV programmes as well as theatre. He now lives in Los Angeles with his family. He works as a mentor to black inner-city children.
The Kanneh-Mason family are a group of siblings who are all musical and work hard at their instruments. The oldest of the seven siblings is 29 and the youngest is just 15. Their mother was born in Sierra Leone but moved to Wales as a young girl, where as their father is from Antiguan heritage. Their most current album, River of Music was released on the 12th of September and was recorded at the Abbey Road Studios. All seven children were educated at schools in Nottingham city and all attended Trinity Catholic School which is just down the road.
