Year five are in two classes - Morton and Dickinson. 

Dickinson class is named after Bruce Dickinson who was born and grew up in the north of the county in the mining community of Worksop.   He is the lead singer of heavy metal band Iron Maiden and spends his time writing, recording and touring.  He is also a qualified airline pilot, presented a radio show and competed at fencing internationally.  His grandparents bought him up for a period of time after his parents found it difficult to support him as they were very young when they had him.  

Morton class is named at Samantha Morton who is an actor, director and producer.  She is of Polish Irish descent.   She has five siblings and with them, she was put into care as her parents couldn't care for them.   She went to West Bridgford Comprehensive School but found it hard to study due to her time moving from foster carers and children't homes.   Like Vicky McClure Samantha was a member of the Central Junior Television Workshop and started her career in the early 1990s after finding it difficult getting into drama school.  She never gave up and has stared in many tv shows and films.  She lives in Derbyshire with her family.  

Spring Term

Thrive

So far this term we have been involved with Thrive Nottingham. This was a 5 week program learning about being healthy. We looked at eating healthy, staying hydrated, exercise, being mindful and getting enough sleep. 

Mini Police

Year 5 are currently involved with the Mini Police program. The children have been learning about bullying, hate crime, road safety, permission and the criminal justice system. 

DT Project - Toys with cams. 

This term the children have been learning about cams. Each child designed and made a moving toy using cams. Take a look at some of our creations! 

Chinese New Year Family Fun

We invited parents and carers to come in and do some Chinese New Year crafts with us.
