Autumn 1 - F1 work around the Colour Monster and our feelings
The Colour Monster
For our first half term together in nursery, we have enjoyed and repeatedly read the story 'The Colour Monster' written by Anna Llenas. Through this story, we were able to discuss the different feelings the Colour Monster has and link them to our own feelings about starting nursery.
Some children felt happy because they had been attending nursery before the holidays and had missed their friends and teachers.
Other children felt sad or worried because it was their first time at nursery and they didn't know what to expect.
We also talked about what it feels like to be angry, cross, calm and loved and linked these feelings to The Zones Of Regulation which is a strategy we are using across school to help recognise and manage our feelings.
As well as lots of talk about our feelings, we also used our maths skills to explore colour sorting and we embraced our creative sides by creating our own colour monsters.
